OTT: Big Films – Big Offers!

OTT has become one of the primary sources of entertainment for Indian audiences these days. After the pandemic, the demand has been increased for OTT platforms. Even these streaming services are spending crores to acquire the rights of big-budget flicks.

In the last couple of years, we have seen OTT platforms offering huge amounts for direct digital releases. of late, these companies are shelling out crores to acquire the post-theatrical digital rights as well.

According to the sources, Amazon Prime Video bought the digital rights of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathan for a whopping 210 crore rupees. Apparently, it spent Rs. 200 crores for the streaming rights of Salman Khan’s Tiger 3.

It is heard that a leading streaming service bought the rights of Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha for Rs. 160 crores.

Recently, Zee5 bought the Telugu, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam rights of RRR for Rs. 150 crores.
Reportedly, Amazon Prime Video spent Rs. 140 crores for the rights of KGF 2.

Apart from these, Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming film Brahmastra: Part One got a deal of Rs. 150 crores for digital rights.

It seems that Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan was offered Rs. 125 crores by a leading streaming service.

Going by the trend, it looks like the streaming services are not looking back in spending huge amounts to acquire the digital rights of big-budget Indian films.
