In recent times, many big films that have been released on OTT are not even making any noise. And now that Rajamouli’s magnum opus has already collected giant box office revenues not just in India but in some other overseas territories as well, many thought that the film will not get a terrific reception on Netflix. But here’s the reality.
While Telugu and all southern versions of RRR were released on Zee5, the Hindi version got released on Netflix. And ever since it was released last week, the film is trending at No 1 position in India. And then, in countries like UAE, Canada, Pakistan and others too, RRR climbed into the Top 10 charts and almost stood at No.1 position for reasons unknown. If it is the Telugu version, surely Telugu people would have walked away with the credits, and if it has been any other country than Pakistan, Indians would have walked away with the watching credits.
But the success of RRR in countries like Pakistan as well as the UAE shows that not only Indians, but many other people are also enjoying this magnum opus. Surely, legendary director, SS Rajamouli deserves a pat for creating such glory for Indian cinema as a whole and Telugu cinema in particular. And Jr NTR as well as Ram Charan deserve the appreciation for taking this particular film to the world stage with their brilliant performances.
