Adivi Sesh’s maiden pan India project Major is due for release on June 3rd and the team is promoting aggressively. They are also screening the movies in different cities, showing their confidence on the final outcome. Today, the film’s special screening was held in Vizag and the response is totally positive from the audience.
While speaking on the occasion, Sesh said, “Major is not a film, it’s an emotion. I can never be Major Sandeep off screen. But I can be second son to Major’s parents. Cinema team usually say that we worked like family members and there were no tiffs between us. We all fought like a real family. But the only goal we had was Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan. Long live Major. I would like to thank uncle and amma for giving us the permission. Most importantly, I would like to thank Mahesh Babu sir for all his support. Many questioned us about the delay in release. But he gave confidence to us saying, Major will release in theatres only at any cost. I would like to thank my guru Abburi Ravi garu who told me that this movie is 10X of my previous movies. We may not have Captain America, but we have Major.
During the making of this movie, many of the crew lost their closed ones, but they all worked for the tribute of Major Sandeep. Our Vizag girl Sobhita played a special role. It’s Saiee who wanted to dub for the movie, as we dubbed for the Hindi version.
We’ve shown this movie to many people. We screened it for 312 NSG Commandos in Mumbai. There is a statue in the centre of the headquarters of NSG Commandos. The black cat commandos didn’t give single reaction, during the screening of the movie. But they said group commander was calling us to the office. We went there and they presented NSG black cat commandos medal to our team. For me, this is more than winning an Oscar award. I don’t need anything now.
However, I would like to apologize to Major’s parents. We didn’t show the movie to them, as I want them to see the full version with no errors in the final product. We got final copy only today. We are going to Bangalore on 31st and we are going to do a tribute screening for family of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan. Amma, uncle please forgive me.
Major’s cousin who stays in Canada told me when I enquired about the response from Pune screening, he said why are you worried, you are our family now. I don’t have cinema background. I’m not the son of any star. But I don’t say I grew up alone. I reached this stage with help of many people. This is more than the stardom to me. I would like to proudly announce, I’ll give chance to one newcomer in my every movie. It’s a pledge on the honour of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan.”
