On June 17th, we are going to finally witness Rana Daggubati and Sai Pallavi’s socio-political movie “Virata Parvam” which is actually set in a vintage backdrop that features them as Naxals. However, as the film fixed its release date, rumours are now coming out that the movie is actually an unofficial biopic of a slain Maoist leader.
Apparently, it has earlier come out that Rana plays a negative role in the movie and the character played by Sai Pallavi gets killed by Priyamani towards the end of the film. Going by that, it is now coming out that actually the role played by Sai Pallavi is loosely based on the life and times of Maoist Belli Lalitha who has started as a folk singer and then joined the movement.
Though not discussed widely, it was rumoured that Lalitha was romantically involved with former Naxalite and gangster Nayeem. But then, Nayeem is said to have gotten her killed, and her body was chopped into pieces before being thrown away in front of Choutuppal police station in 1999.
Going by the talk around Virata Parvam, it is heard that the story will be narrated by a character that plays the brother of Sai Pallavi, who has spent 17 years in exile after the murder of his sister. In reality, Belli Lalitha’s three brothers were killed after her death, and her remaining brother went into oblivion until Nayeem’s killing in an encounter by Telangana police.
One wonders even more now if “Virata Parvam” movie is all about this, and that explains why producer Suresh Babu demanded director Venu Udugula to change lots of scenes and went for many reshoots.
