Exactly two months ago, the whole of Tollywood is busy demanding ticket hikes such that the industry will survive in a big way. But little do they expect about the consequences that will follow as hiking tickets made the audience prefer to sit at home than step into theatres. And another stroke also happened, which has now made Allu Arvind realize the fault and act on it immediately.
When films are failing to pull crowds to theatres (except RRR and KGF2), distributors and exhibitors realised the mistake of hiking the prices of tickets, producers showed their smartness by selling the films to OTT platforms well in advance with a two-week release gap. While producers made money, they have then realised that releasing a film on OTT in just 20-30 days from the date of release is killing the theatre business completely. And none other than Allu Arvind stated that he realised these two things are completely wrong.
Hinting at these two things, Allu Arvind today said, “We’ve realised how hiking ticket prices and releasing the films in a short time from the release date on OTT platforms will affect the industry. That’s why many recently released films have struck a new deal with OTTs and ticket prices will not be hiked”. The producer hinted that his latest movie, Maruthi and Gopichand’s Pakka Commercial, will also follow the newly taken decisions only.
They say that Allu Arvind is instrumental in making the total Telugu industry follow these two things. The likes of F3, Major, Vikram and other upcoming films have been released only at regular ticket pricing and will not come on OTT until 60 days from the date of release.
