The three most successful films this year are from the South, one from each language among Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada. The Bollywood angst upon not scoring at least one like them this year is clearly visible among many actors and directors too. Some filmmakers are in mixed opinions on what if they made the same films in Hindi.
Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar praises Prashant Neel’s KGF and at the same time says the movie would have been panned by critics if it was made in Bollywood. KGF Chapter 2 reportedly made Rs 1250 crore and in which Rs 435 crore has come from the Hindi version only.
Speaking to Film Companion, Karan said, ‘When I read the reviews of KGF, I’m like if we made this, we would be lynched. But here, everybody is like ‘Oh it was a celebration, a party and it was. I loved it. I loved it with all my heart. But I feel hum yeh banaate to? It’s working both ways. I feel we are also not given any kind of leeway and then we are trying to be somebody else. So, we are all over the place. We are living a dual existence and we have to stop.’
Well, Twitter is not cool with Karan Johar’s words. The netizens started schooling Karan about how he should stop casting star kids with crappy love stories blended with remix songs. Instead, they asked him to focus on cinematography, presentation, and a good story.
