Teaser Talk: Shamshera, Bollywood Tries It Again

Though Bollywood successfully made period films like Lagaan, Jodhaa Akbar earlier, somehow they are unable to withstand the “Baahubali” madness that took them by a storm, a couple of years ago. In that process, the likes of Yash Raj Films tried their hand at many large scale visual effects fantasies. However, most of them ended up like Thugs of Hindostan only.

Right now, YRF is getting ready to test their luck yet again with the film “Shamshera” featuring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead. The film deals with the story of a tribe in a period backdrop and how a bandit rises to the rank of a legend to save them. With the teaser, director Karan Malhotra who has made films like Agneepath and Brothers has proved that he has come up with an intense drama with terrific visual effects.

While the trailer of the movie will be unveiled in a couple of days, many are seeing this project as Bollywood’s another try at Baahubali and KGF level work, and everyone is hoping that it works, at least due to the Ranbir Kapoor factor. So far, the visuals are terrific but what needs to work out on the screen is the story arc and the screenplay.
