From the first weekend, Gopichand and Maruthi’s latest outing “Pakka Commercial” managed to grab a ₹5 crores share, which is a very low figure compared to the kind of budgets involved and the production house that brought the film in front of audiences. And it looks like the situation won’t get any better.
With “Pakka Commercial” not even getting good word of mouth for the kind of crap content Maruth has made, the film showed no recovery sign on Monday.
For these commercial films, the drop on Monday is crucial, and if the drop is almost 80%, then surely they are going to end up as a major disaster at the box office.
With multiplexes registering less than 10% occupancy on Mondays, and single screens also not getting more than 20% occupancy, looks like the film’s fate is doomed.
Meanwhile, Maruthi Dasari is busy claiming that the film turned out to be a big hit and has even turned the dreams of Gopichand and Raashi Khanna true as it became a blockbuster.
However, these talks are not going to recover the theatrical rights of ₹19+ crores that were invested on the film by local distributors across Telugu states.
But the producer, Geetha Arts and Bunny Vasu are safe, as they have sold the film to Netflix for another ₹20+ crores, while Aha is giving them ₹10 crores to share the OTT streaming rights.
