One of the highly hyped movies in Nagarjuna’s career in recent times is “Wild Dog” movie which was directed by screen-writer Ahishar Solomon. While critics felt that the movie is stylish but lacks an emotional quotient and an overall interesting premise, the audience also felt the same. But the senior hero says, the film is a blockbuster.
When media folks stated that his “Wild Dog” film hasn’t ran well at theatres, Nagarjuna is quick to say this- “I don’t know why are you saying that on Wild Dog. When the film was released, Delta variant has just struck India and we have to recede from theatres. After releasing the film on Netflix, it went on trending at No.1 position on Netflix for nearly 10 weeks, not just in India, but across the world”.
Actually, Wild Dog was released in AP and Telangana on April 2nd, 2021 while a lockdown was imposed in Telangana in May 2021 and theatres are closed from April 20th only. But in the 3-weeks window, Wild Dog hasn’t raked up good money for obvious reasons. Okay, let us say people didn’t come to theatres due to fear of covid, so what on Netflix?
If Nag’s claim that Wild Dog has run at No.1 position for 10 weeks on Netflix is true, then the film would have got applause like RRR. Like all just released films, Wild Dog got attention at the No.1 spot for a week and then in the Top 10 for another week, but eventually, it fizzled out on the OTT app too.
