Nobody knows precisely where a film could end up on its full run. Rajamouli and his team might have anticipated RRR to become a winner at the box office for sure, but did they foresee the international critics and filmmakers tweeting about it? Maybe not!
Apart from a lot of praise and little criticism from all corners, RRR is still trending all over till today. The latest reason for it seems to be Marvel’s Thor 4. A tweet from film critic and journalist Jesse Jawken compared the budgets of Rajamouli’s RRR and Thor 4 with a picture from each. He did mean to say that the money spent on RRR was $70 mill and what if he was given a Thor 4′ budget of $185 million.
The tweet garnered hundreds of retweets and thousands of likes. The CG work of RRR took a chunk of monies from the film budget and the output is on par with it, and the debate here is if the ace filmmaker gets $185 million, he shall give a bigger and better ‘marvel’ous film. The critic even said RRR is the future of cinema, while THOR is a perpetuation of corporate ‘fun’.
Well, there are others who went skeptical of his opinion saying a screenshot comparison does not define the great work of one filmmaker or the poor craftsmanship of another. They say RRR might be good, but can never be compared to a Marvel film. They even opine that RRR has become so popular, that many started cashing in on the craze to be trending much bigger.
Debates apart, Rajamouli’s next movie is heard to be using a much higher budget than any of his previous films and it has to be seen how big it can get.
