Director Koratala Siva’s Acharya (April 29, 2022 release) is a big disaster in theatres. The multi-starrer action film starring Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan bombed at the box office incurring hefty losses to its distributors, buyers and exhibitors in all regions. Siva, who took over the project from original Producer Niranjan Reddy, has to bear the brunt. Siva has no other option but to settle the losses for the trade. Though losses and profits are part and parcel of movie business (any business), Acharya resulted in massive losses to buyers. This is what worked against Koratala Siva who took complete responsibility for the film’s failure.
While Koratala next (NTR 30) is with Tarak, distributors and exhibitors who suffered losses are mounting pressure on Koratala to compensate. Now, Siva is under pressure. Even as he promised to clear the amounts and asked time, distributors and exhibitors are in no mood to delay.
Ceded distributors and some exhibitors have reportedly visited Koratala Siva’s office seeking compensation and informed not to leave the place without receiving their compensation. Distributors and exhibitors have reportedly done night-out at Koratala’s office and even cautioned him that they would approach Chiru and Charan if their dues are not cleared on time.
Meanwhile, Siva is reportedly hurt and disappointed with this unexpected shock from distributors. He is now hunting for funds to settle the issue. This resulted in sympathy for Koratala Siva from his fans on social media platforms including Twitter. Many fans took to Twitter and expressed their support for Siva with the #JusticeforKoratalaShiva.
Siva delivered blockbuster films with Prabhas (Mirchi), Mahesh Babu (Srimanthudu, Bharat Ane Nenu) and NTR (Jonatha Garage). Now the fans of these star heroes naturally have sympathy towards Koratala for delivering blockbusters with their favourite heroes. As Koratala’s next is with NTR, Tarak’s fans are also going out in support of Koratala. Only his last film Acharya was a disaster at the Box Office.
Now, it needs to be seen, what would Chiru and Charan say in the whole issue since Konidela Production Company has a stake in Acharya, albeit indirectly.
