Directors & Heroes Should Stick To Their Strengths

Published by

In recent times, some lead actors who have terrific writing and direction skills have succeeded with their movies after handling those departments quite well. Adivi Sesh and his Major, Siddhu Jonnalagadda and his DJ Tillu are examples. But then, what happens when heroes and directors are involved in the sales and distribution part of the film rather than the creative parts?

Recently Koratala Siva took care of whole “Acharya” sales and called all the sales shots as per his whims and fancies. Rather than focusing on the creative, direction and content making part of the movie, he invested his time and energy in sales, which led to a huge misfire after the film flopped. Literally, distributors are running after him to pay back the losses incurred.

Similarly we have hero Ram Pothineni who is said to have been involved with the Vizag distribution of his latest movie “The Warrior”. He’s said to have sold the rights in that district to other third parties after acquiring them from the producer. And if the film fails to collect even 30% of the investment, which is a possibility now, then the distributors might ask Ram to pay back some money.

Well, rather than sticking to their strength, one wonders why heroes and directors are poking their heads into the film business. It’s high time others also realise this particular thing.
