Devi Sri Prasad is one of the finest talents in the Telugu film industry. He composed a music album at the age of 17 and then ventured into mainstream cinema as a music composer at the age of 19. Devi stunned everyone in the initial days of his career. There was a time when the audio companies minted crores of revenue by grabbing the rights of his music. Cut to the present, the Midas touch of DSP is missing, and the magic of his music is hardly visible.
In the recent past, except for the film Pushpa: The Rise, no other audio album lived up to the expectations of music lovers. The audio album was released six months ago and is still trending top of the charts.
From DSP’s latest release, ‘The Warrior’, to a bunch of films released in the last six months, not even a single audio album carried the Unique Selling Point of Devi Sri Prasad. ‘The Warrior’ score received a lot of criticism. Except for The Bullet song, everything else about the music album of The Warrior is unimpressive.
F3 audio album too disappointed everyone but the positive word of mouth on the film dominated all the drawbacks. People hardly remember the songs of Aadallu Meeku Joharlu, Khiladi, Good Luck Sakhi, and Rowdy Boys. The background score of these films is not impressive either.
Other than Pushpa, Uppena’s audio album impressed music lovers. But, again, Alludu Adhurs, Rang De, Adavallu Meeku Joharlu and other films failed to impress.
The Telugu film industry needs quality music composers who can bring a positive buzz to the film even before its release. On one side, Thaman is doing back-to-back films and is extremely busy. DSP is the only alternative, and despite his demand for a big remuneration, the directors want to work with him. But the only concern is the criticism coming in for his music.
Currently, DSP is busy with two big projects. One is Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya, and the other is Pushpa: The Rule. Sukumar will ensure to get the best out of DSP, and the second part of Pushpa might also become a hit like Pushpa: The Rise and Uppena. If the audio album of Waltair Veerayya also becomes a hit, there will be no looking back for Devi Sri Prasad.
The entire Telugu music lovers community expects the vintage DSP’s musical magic. The fandom he gained with Varsham, Manmadhudu, Shankar Dada MBBS, Bhadra, Arya, and many other films is unparalleled. We hope he will make a solid comeback soon.
