Young hero Siddhu Jonnalagadda’s quirky crime comedy, DJ Tillu, became a surprise hit at the box office earlier this year by grossing over Rs 30 crore worldwide. To cash in on the massive success, the makers wasted no time and launched the film’s sequel in the last week of June. Siddhu, who co-wrote DJ Tillu’s script along with director Vimal Krishna, had joined hands with him yet again for the much-awaited sequel.
However, an unexpected jolt has now hit the movie’s unit even as the shooting is scheduled to kickstart in August. According to the latest buzz in film circles, director Vimal has exited the sequel following irrevocable creative differences with Siddhu Jonnalagadda. The buzz has it that there has been a cold war of sorts between Siddhu and Vimal due to which the director had to quit the project eventually.
Incidentally, Siddhu was rumoured to have ghost directed a major portion of DJ Tillu, and apart from scripting, the hero was also supervising the directorial aspects for the sequel. This seems to have not gone down too well with Vimal Krishna, who was determined to leave his mark with his talent.
The latest grapevine has it that a new director has joined the project as Vimal’s replacement to shoulder the responsibility. The makers are expected to come up with an official announcement in this regard. Neha Shetty, Prince and Brahmaji are playing lead roles in the sequel, while Naga Vamshi is bankrolling it under Sithara Entertainments banner.
