Virata Parvam and Gargi are two back to back treats from Sai Pallavi for the Telugu audience, and both the films haven’t posted huge numbers at the box office. While Sai Pallavi’s performance got hailed in both these movies, the Lady Powerstar couldn’t pull enough audience to theatres in the first place, while other factors also affected these films big time.
That now brings us to the question, whether Sai Pallavi’s solo performance as a stunner will be helpful for her films? Not enough. For a film to become a blockbuster, Sai Pallavi’s stunning treat is not enough. First of all, there should be super hit songs in the movie whose audio will drive movie-lovers to theatres. Then it should have a few cinematic elements like in Fidaa.
For films to work in theatres, Sai Pallavi should pick up movies that have commercial touch including some comedy, romance and drama. If she picks up only OTT type of movies, they will do well on Amazon and Netflix but not at Aspara Vijayawada and Sudharshan, RTC X Roads. So the actress should learn to pick up not-so-off-beat movies for them to work in theatres. Also the movie should be packaged with other actors and crowd cheering elements like how Nayanthara’s films like Kokila and others are crafted with.
Then comes the marketing part where the movie teams should indulge in hefty promotions. However that alone won’t do wonders as Virata Parvam was promoted quite heavily, but the result is poor; while Gargi got appreciation from critics but lack of promotions is not motivating the audience to come to theatres. This promotional strategy should be clear based on the product, and that will help the audience rush to theatres. Had they premiered Gargi in multiple cities like a Major, maybe the film would have got superior openings.
On the whole, simply Sai Pallavi will not be enough even if fans and Sukumar call her “Lady Powerstar” as that image is not pulling crowds to theatres without any second thoughts.
