Recently talented star hero Dhanush made his debut in Hollywood through Russo Brothers’ The Gray Man. However, if the talk from premieres is anything to go by, his role doesn’t have much substance and screen time, and that’s not the kind of debut anyone would expect from the star. And that’s a bullet-point for the likes of Prabhas and Ram Charan.
After the super success of Baahubali, Prabhas is getting offers from Hollywood, while some filmmakers from the USA tweeted after watching RRR that they want to rope Charan for one of their projects. Looking at Dhanush, these two big Telugu stars should get alerted and not accept any role that is offered to them in big Hollywood projects. Because appearing in cameos and not-so-important roles will only kill their stardom.
Hollywood agents do cast Indian stars, but most of the time the role doesn’t create an impact like the way our heroes/heroines promote it. Whether that is Deepika Padukone in Vin Diesel’s XXX: Return of Xander Cage, Shruthi Haasan in the Treadstone web series, or Priyanka Chopra in Baywatch and Matrix Resurrections, the roles are just a blink and miss, and never so important to the story progression. Though Priyanka has done the Quantico series as well, she hasn’t gained much from that apart from staying in LA and finding her husband.
And now, Dhanush’s minuscule role in The Gray Man explains to us a thing that most Hollywood directors are casting Indian actors/actresses such that their movies would get a big opening here. If Prabhas and Charan are also offered similar stuff, it is better to avoid than take them up for the sake of having a Hollywood project to their filmography.
