Dil Raju is one of the top producers in the Telugu film industry and enjoys a high success rate. Whenever his film is released, audiences will have certain expectations. To expand his market at a pan-India level, Raju entered Bollywood as well.
He made his Hindi debut with Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey. This movie ended up as a disaster. When asked about it in a recent media interaction, Raju said Shahid signed Jersey after scoring a blockbuster like Kabir Singh.
“If it were released before COVID, the situation would have been different. We thought it would bring us profits of about 30-40 crores. But due to COVID-19, the film was postponed multiple times. Eventually, when it got released, we ended up in losses of around Rs. 3-4 crores because class audiences are not willing to enter theatres after the pandemic.” said Raju.
He also added that the disastrous result of his second Bollywood project HIT was also expected. “Before the pandemic, Rajkumar Rao’s films collected around 15 crores during the opening weekend. But that is not the case now,” he stated.
Thus, Raju stated that he predicted the results of both his Bollywood films before their release.
