The Active Producers Guild, which is looking into the issues of film producers and trying to cut down the costs of film production, has decided to form new committees to discuss with the character actors, mid-range heroes and heroines on possible reduction in their compensation and demands. This is part of the cost cutting measures planning to adopt by the Telugu film producers who suffered hefty losses of late.
With a huge fall in theatrical revenues and less footfalls to cinemas, and distributors, buyers are not willing to shell out huge monies like earlier and exhibitors are planning to shut down some cinema halls, film producers are under pressure to take some strict measures to bring down the production costs. The producers are also making strict resolution to have minimum 50-day window for OTT streaming of the films from their respective theatrical releases.
However, the irony is that the cost of the character actors and young heroes, heroines is proportionately lower than the remuneration of lead stars which is amounting to large part of cost of filmmaking of big-budget films. But sadly, the Guild isn’t coming up with any committees to discuss on the remunerations of the lead stars. More details are awaited. An official announcement is likely to be made soon from the Guild.
