The 68th National Film Awards were announced a while ago for the movies released in 2020. Since it is the pandemic time, there were less entries for the jury to watch. Among all the awards, there are multiple surprises, especially in Telugu.
Small film Colour Photo which skipped the theatrical release bagged the Best Regional Feature Film. Directed by Sandeep Raj, the film is bankrolled by Sai Rajesh of Amrutha Productions.
As expected, Thaman S scored the National award in the Best Music Director category for the film Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. Thaman bagged the award for his successful audio album. However, GV Prakash Kumar received the award for best background score for the film Soorarai Pottru.
On the other hand, another small film Natyam bagged two National Awards. One of them is for the Best Makeup Artist. TV Ram Babu bagged the award. On the other hand, Sandhya Raju, the film’s main lead, bagged the Best Choreographer award.
On the whole, the government took the right decision of giving awards to small films, which is a big boost for the young talents.
The movie lovers expected that Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo would get more awards, but the film had to settle down with only one award.
