Mega producer Dil Raju already stated that he is not in the mood to kick start new projects until he finds out why audiences are not turning up in theatres. At the same time Yash Raj Films and Aditya Chopra are also worried from a long time to hit the bullseye and bring down the likes of Baahubali from the top of the throne. So what happened this Friday?
Quite surprisingly, Dil Raju’s Thank You hasn’t opened well despite some packed and aggressive promotions by Naga Chaitanya and his team. No matter how much they spoke about the film’s content including expressing gratitude in the right way, it looks like the ₹200 or ₹100 tickets invested by the audience isn’t getting the right gratitude from the film’s content. With Thank You getting mediocre ratings, and rains hitting Telangana as well as Andhra hard once again, surely the film’s run is going to be a nightmare for the makers.
Then comes Bollywood’s big ticket weapon that is targeted at the legendary of Baahubali, RRR and KGF. Ranbir Kapoor’s Shamshera was promoted extensively and the film’s lead hero is in the news all over for various trending topics. Despite all that, the film’s pathetic plot and run-of-the-mill execution fetched only below-par ratings. Not just critics, but even audiences who have watched the film are finding it difficult to digest the fact that YRF has once again done a ‘Thugs Of Hindostan’ feat.
While Dil Raju is said to have slipped into a pensive mood already, putting all of his ongoing scripts works in a pause mode, Aditya Chopra must be wondering where exactly Bollywood is going wrong and wrong again. More than the leading heroes of these movies, it is the producers who got a big jolt, and they must surely re-think their strategies, stories and the way they will execute things.
