A couple of flops and a couple of hits or at least average-grossers is how Telugu box office was like a few years ago. But now, things got completely changed and after the stupendous success of Rajamouli’s RRR, the Telugu box office is yet to see a proper movie that could make everyone happy. Here’s an interesting snippet.
After RRR, we have seen some popular movies like Varun Tej’s Ghani, Megastar’s Acharya, Vishwaksen’s Ashoka Vanamlo Arjuna Kalyanam, Mahesh’s Sarkaruvari Paata, Anil Ravipudi’s F3, Adivi Sesh’s Major, Rana’s Virata Parvam, Kiran Abbavaram’s Sammathame, Gopichand’s Pakka Commercial, Lavanya Tripathi’s Happy Birthday, Ram’s The Warrior and Naga Chaitanya’s Thank You. There are many other Telugu films that were released alongside these films.
Guess what, only “Major” is a solid hit film among all these movies, while Sarkaru and F3 escaped with minor losses. The rest of the films have disappointed hugely at the box office, causing more than 60% losses to all the parties involved, thus pushing Tollywood into a long dry run.
At least a couple of hits and a couple of above-average grosser in the coming days are strongly needed to make sure that the Telugu box office stays alive. We have the likes of Raviteja’s Ramarao On Duty, Kalyan Ram’s Bimbisara, Hanu Raghavapudi’s Sitaramam, Nikhil’s Karthikeya 2, Nithin’s Macherla Niyojakavargam, Vijay Devarakonda’s Liger and Vaishnav Tej’s Rangaranga Vaibhavamga coming up in the next couple of months.
Everyone is eagerly waiting to see who among them is going to break this dry run and make the box office get going. Every filmmaker is trying hard to get huge buzz for their film in different ways and we have to see who among them are going to impress the audience big time. #FingersCrossed.
