Vijay Deverakonda’s Liger is creating sensation. Trade is going gung ho about the film. The film’s trailer created a lot of buzz in trade circles. The latest we hear is that the film’s theatrical rights excluding Overseas and Hindi were acquired by Warangal Sreenu for Rs 80 Crore. This includes Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and other languages.
This is a fancy deal in these special times as the footfalls to cinemas have come down drastically in recent times. Apparently, it is learnt that there is a recovery clause as well in the deal. Coming to Hindi, Anil Thadani’s AA films which distributes big films in Hindi including Baahubali is distributing Liger.
Earlier, Liger’s satellite, OTT and audio rights fetched a whopping revenue. The makers earned a staggering Rs 99 Crore through its world-wide non-theatrical rights which include digital, satellite and music rights of all languages. The film’s digital and satellite rights were acquired by Star group for a whopping Rs 85 Crore. The audio rights alone raked in Rs 14 Crore in all languages that were bought by Sony Music.
Warangal Sreenu suffered a huge setback with Chiranjeevi’s Acharya. Now, he wants to recover those losses and is betting huge on Vijay’s Liger. The film is all set to hit the screens on August 25. Let’s hope that Vijay’s Liger ends the woes of trade and Box Office which is lull for a while.
