The war between India and Pakistan in 1971 led to the birth of the nation, Bangladesh. Based on this backdrop, the film ‘Pippa’ is being made and marking Independence Day, the teaser was unveiled by the makers.
Starring Ishaan Khattar and Mrunal Thakur in the lead roles, the teaser begins with then Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi announcing a war against Pakistan for orchestrating air strikes at 11 Indian air fields.
Upon the PM’s call, the Indian army gears up to fight against Pakistan and within two weeks, the Indian army gains a clear upper hand over the Pakistan army. But how did the Indian army fight back forms ‘Pippa.’
The film’s title refers to the Russian amphibious war tank PT-76 that was used in the war. It’s a Punjabi word and it means an empty container that is used to store ghee.
Hero Ishaan Khattar is lucky to play an army officer in the early stages of his career and he looks solid in the role. He is the head of a contingent and he looks believable. “Never before in history, a nation has waged a war to liberate a third country,” says Ishaan.
Directed by Raja Krishna Menon of ‘Airlift’ fame, the teaser is loaded with visuals of war and AR Rahman’s background music gives goosebumps.
Produced by ‘URI’ and ‘Rang De Basanti’ producers, ‘Pippa’ will be releasing on December 2nd this year.
