Explaining the advent of OTT a couple of years back, senior producer Suresh Babu expressed his concern that film viewing experiences might get changed altogether. He then went ahead with the OTT releases of many of his films, especially the ones featuring his brother Venkatesh in the leads.
Even for the recently released Virata Parvam, Suresh Babu pressed for an OTT release only but the other partner producer of the film insisted on theatrical release. However, the senior producer stuck to his plan of releasing his Korean remakes on OTT only, as he is said to have already sold the rights of Sudheer Varma’s “Sakhini Daakhini” to a leading streaming platform.
But the recent success of films like Bimbisaara and Sitaramam has given new confidence to Suresh Babu it looks like as he suddenly scheduled his Saakini Daakini for September 16th release. Though Sudheer Babu’s Aah Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali is also set for the same day release, Suresh is hopeful that he will place the film in right number of theatres to make it count.
Sakini Daakini is the remake of the Korean action comedy movie ‘Midnight Runners’. While the original version has two young male police academy trainees trying to catch a kidnap ring, the Telugu version has Regina Cassandra and Nivetha Thomas playing those roles.
