‘Had Idea For Pokiri 2 & Businessman 2, But Mahesh Sir Was Busy’

Pokiri remains a landmark in Mahesh Babu’s career and Businessman is also one of the successful films for him. Puri Jagannath directed both the films and they did not join hands for any other project later. Though Jana Gana Mana was announced, it was later shelved. In a recent interview, Puri revealed interesting things about Pokiri, Businessman and the idea for sequels.

Puri Jagannath revealed that Businessman could be easily turned into a franchise. He says there is so much more that he can do with the character of Surya Bhai. He opines the same for Pokiri as well.

Puri Jagannath says ,’I had an idea for the part 2 of both the films in early 2010s, but then, Mahesh sir was busy with other films. We never discussed the sequels then and hence, both films never took off.’

Looking at the huge success of both the films, we could imaging how big would have been the sequels. But again, Puri Jagannath has gone out of form after Businessman. A poor sequel for Pokiri could have disappointed the fans of original.

Puri Jagannath also says that he really want to remake Businessman in Hindi. ‘The hero’s character has a lot of scope. It’s a dialogue-based film and I feel, it would have great potential in the Hindi belts. I hope, I get a chance to rework on the idea and make it for the Hindi audience soon.

Well, Puri Jagannath’s Liger with Vijay Deverakonda is releasing in a day. The director pinned huge expectations on the movie and it has to be seen if the director bags a much needed success.
