Movie industry is one of the most affected industries due to the Covid-19 crisis. With the film exhibition worst hit and theatres have been shut indefinitely, production of several films are in limbo since they’re linked with the releases.
Now, all eyes on the Union Government’s permission to reopen cinemas. While several reports and speculations had it that the Cinemas would be permitted to reopen with Unlock 3.0, the Centre gave shock to exhibition business by not relaxing the restrictions on theatres.
Now, the latest buzz we hear is that the Centre may lift the embargo on the cinemas by September 1st. It is buzzed that the Unlock 4.0 may allow to open cinemas, auditoriums albeit with strict restrictions and following the Covid-19 guidelines.
It can be noted that the Union Information & Broadcasting Ministry had made some recommendations to the Union Home Ministry over the Cinemas and also recommended to allow for their reopening. The I&B Ministry made the recommendations of alternative seats and rows in Cinemas, auditoriums.
Amidst rumours of possible reopening of cinemas from September, several leading production houses and major studios are planning to release their big-budget films in October during the festive season.
Producers, actors and filmmakers are pinning high hopes on Unlock 4.0 and keeping their fingers crossed. Let’s wait and see, whether Unlock 4.0 would provide the much-needed relief to movie industry or not.
