So far, the likes of legendary Rajamouli, Prashanth Neel and Sukumar have carved out blockbusters for Bollywood as well but all of them are just dubbed movies. These legends haven’t directed a film in the Hindi arena. But the young brigade of Telugu directors are actually remaking their own projects for Bollywood too, and most of them failed.
Except for Sandeep Reddy Vanga who carved out Kabir Singh in Hindi in the most intense way than the original Arjun Reddy, other directors like Sailesh Kolani (HIT) and Gautham Tinnanuri (Jersey) have failed to recreate the magic in Bollywood. After Sandeep, it looks like directors duo Pushkar and Gayathri, who have now remade their “Vikram Vedha” in Bollywood, are looking somewhat promising.
We have Pushkar and Gayatri re-directing the original “Vikram Vedha” in Hindi with Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan reprising the roles of Vijay Sethupathi and R Madhavan respectively. As the trailer is looking quite stylish, chilling and more intense than the original, many are expecting that the film will turn out into a blockbuster. And then, if young director Atlee’s direct Hindi film “Jawan” clicks big, then there will be no looking back for all these Tamil directors too.
Barring the legendary directors who make ₹400+ crores budgeted movies, it looks like young Telugu directors might witness strong competition from their Tamil counterparts. Well, if our filmmakers want to score hits with direct Hindi movies, then they have to focus more.
