Other day, former heroine Renu Desai has stated that she sold out her two luxury cars, which we know already. By selling them off, she has bought a new Hyundai Kona which happens to be an electric car and Renu took a huge master class to netizens as to how she’s saving on fuel, thereby saving the earth from global warming.
The real purpose of electric cars is to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels and controlling the emission of gases such that Earth will not be depleted of resources and won’t see raise in temperature. But then, buying an electric car, like how Renu Desai advised, is non as easy thing as one could do. That’s what netizens are feeling about her advice right now.
“Hyundai Kona Electric costs nearly 28 lakhs on road in a city like Hyderabad. Other than those living in premium apartments and residences, and earning more than 2-3 lakhs per month, who could afford to buy that?” a netizen asked. Of course, usually middle-class targets cars that are in the range of 5-10 lakhs which leave them with Rs 10-15K EMI per month. That’s why the likes of Swift, Baleno, Brezza, Grand i10 are sold in huge numbers. Any car that costs more than 20 lakhs is considered a premium vehicle.
With Kona’s other competitors like MG’s ZS EV priced at 20-24 lacs and Tata Nexon EV priced at 14-18 lakhs, only Mahindra’s Verito that could cost 11 lacs on road is the option for people to buy if they want to save fuel and save the earth. But 11 lacs is also a big deal, isn’t it?
For the now, Renu Desai’s advise to all of her fans, who are mostly middle class, to use electric cars, is an impractical idea.
