During the making of Liger, director Puri Jagannadh and his hero Vijay Deverakonda had announced Puri’s long-cherished dream project, Jana Gana Mana. The film had even wrapped up a minor schedule ahead of Liger’s theatrical release.
But, Liger’s disastrous result reportedly made the JGM’s financiers to back out abruptly, leaving Puri and his production partner Charmme in a fix.
While rumours of Jana Gana Mana being shelved are doing the rounds on social media, neither Puri nor Charmme have confirmed or denied the reports. And it’s Vijay’s turn now to follow suit. During the media interaction at the just concluded SIIMA awards night, journos asked Vijay to open up about the ongoing rumours on JGM.
Not surprisingly, even Vijay preferred to skip the question. “We all are here to enjoy the SIIMA awards. Let’s ignore the rest and enjoy the night to the fullest,” Vijay told the media and continued to maintain suspense on Jana Gana Mana’s future.
Usually, Vijay never shies away from talking about his failures. But his silence on JGM speaks volumes of the mystery surrounding the film. Well, let’s wait until some clarity emerges from the horse’s mouth.
