Till date, the one word that we heard from Tollywood in a collective tone is that most of the producers want to wait till the end of time, till theatre get re-opened, in order to release their unreleased films. Most of them have shied away from the thought of releasing their big-ticket entertainers on OTT. But suddenly they are rushing towards Amazon, Zee5 and Netflix to sell their films.
Many are wondering why these Telugu producers are worried about the arrival of September month and here goes the truth. Actually many of the producers made films from bank loans and they have to pay interests until they clear the actual. Due to Covid ensured lockdown actually Reserve Bank of India declared a moratorium and that led to a relief till August. From September, many of these producers have to start paying the interest amounts on the loans they have taken.
Owing to that pressure even many big producers have taken a final decision that they will sell their films to OTT platforms. If there is a direct theatre release, some of these films would bring 30-40 crores profits to producers, but selling them to OTT players will only give them 5-10 crores profit. However, there is no way than that to escape the upcoming ‘interest’ monster.
