Usually, if a film is a blockbuster in other languages, our heroes are quick enough to grab it even though the Telugu dubbed version of it got released on any OTT platform. That’s how we have movies like Ayappanum Koshiyum and Lucifer remade into Telugu now, and they did well (doing well) at the Box Office too. However, some films are not picked for a remake for reasons unknown, and Vikram Vedha is one of them.
Featuring Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi as the negative shaded protagonist and antagonist, this cop and rowdy drama carved by Pushkar-Gayatri has become a cult hit in the Tamil arena. However, the recent Hindi version of it featuring Hrithik Roshan and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles is a big disappointment.
In the eight days of running with Dasara holidays included, Hindi Vikram Vedha carved by the same directors has collected only Rs 61+ crores nett from the box office. For a film whose making and publicity costs touched 150+ crores, this is a pretty low collection we have to say though the producers will be saved as digital streaming and satellite rights will save them anyway.
Cut to Tollywood, we are hearing that Akkineni Nagarjuna wanted to take a decision on remaking this movie after looking at the Hindi box office, and he has now decided to not touch it. Also it is coming out that the original directors, Pushkar-Gayatri, who has made the film in Tamil as well as Hindi, have also decided to not direct Telugu remake as they were already bored after they did the same film twice.
