The new feature on Apple’s iPhone 14, the Crash Detection feature seems to be having a side effect that is giving it a tough time to the users.
A recent report says that law enforcement authorities were sent to amusement parks on many occasions after the iPhone 14 mistook the thrill rides for a real car crash emergency. The thrill rides on rollercoasters at amusement parks have twists, turns, and hard braking that the iPhone 14 dialed 911 to alert authorities considering it a car crash.
Apple rolled out the feature of Crash Detection with its new iPhone 14, Watch series 8, SE, and Ultra. The devices are equipped with a gyroscopic sensor and high-g accelerometer trained on the impact experienced with simulated car crashes.
The iPhone will display an alert and call emergency services if the sensors detect that you’ve been in an accident. If the alerts are not dismissed within 20 seconds, it will call the emergency services.
Recent reports had it that one of the 911 calls was placed while an iPhone 14 owner was strapped to a rollercoaster at Cincinnati’s King Island amusement park.
The Crash Detection feature recently help detect and alert authorities about a fatal crash in Nebraska, but it has its own side effects.
