Amitabh Bachchan.
The name doesn’t need any introduction. The name that any small boy across the country can recognize. Such is his personality. Such is his persona, and such is his charisma.
Mr. Bachchan, the pride of Indian cinema, turns 80 today.
Amitabh Bachchan is one of the most versatile actors that this country has ever seen. No other actor has been as successful as him in two different career innings. During the late 70s to early 90s, Bachchan was the Angry Young Man of Indian cinema. He made many commercial blockbusters like Deewar, Kaala Patthar, Don, and Agneepath. Bollywood was in a golden era during his prime stage. His towering personality and strong voice brought him huge popularity.
In the early 2000s, Bachchan started playing supporting roles. He chose to be versatile in his selections of films. The result was films like Paa, Cheeni Kum, Black, Piku, Shamitabh, and Pink.
His stint with Kaun Banega Crorepati made him a household figure across the country. His second innings brought him close to the millennials and Gen Z kids. There are also many younger generation fans of Amitabh.
Bollywood is going through a rough phase now. It needs commercial films like Agneepath and Don. But no hero can pull off such roles. Every actor in Bollywood’s current generation thinks that commercialism means wooing heroines. So, we may not see a commercial hero like Amitabh once again.
We may not see a versatile veteran actor like him as well. Thus, there can be only one Amitabh Bachchan. We wish him a delighted birthday and hope he comes up with various interesting projects in the future.
