The Diwali releases this week are going to have an interesting clash to watch for. There are five movies hitting the screens this Friday, not the big-ticket films that lock horns, but also not the films that can be ignored.
Vishwak Sen’s Ori Devuda garnered good buzz with the trailer and popular actors like Venkatesh, and Mithila Palkar in it. Karthi’s Sardaar needs to be different and also surprising to gain a good enough talk to work at the box office. So is the movie Prince, of Karthikeyan and Jathi Ratnalu director Anudeep. Prince is releasing in Telugu, but the two previous hits of Sivakarthikeyan are not helping him yet but the brand Anudeep is. And the fourth one is Manchu Vishnu’s Ginna is coming as a horror comedy with a good trailer talk. Along with these, Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam also is coming in a good number of screens in metros.
It is evident that festival season can accommodate more films and all they need is a good talk. Well, besides the verdict and talk, there is one factor that is threatening all these films. And that is Kantara.
Kantara is rage-running at the box office with unanimous hit talk all over. The speed and stamina of the movie don’t seem to slow down in just one week and it is still enjoying the housefuls on the weekdays also. Kantara is leaving trade analysts in shock with the collections of a movie that has no star hero and no grandeur.
If at all Kantara’s run becomes a juggernaut in the second week also, the films released for Diwali will be facing the heat. Overall, the talk for Diwali releases turns crucial if they have to exist in the race with Kantara. With only one holiday for the festival, it has to be seen which of these films emerge as a winner with Kantara in its full-throttle run.
