Re-releasing old hit films on actors’ birthdays has become a trend in Tollywood these days. Recently, we have witnessed the re-release of Okkadu and Pokiri on Mahesh Babu’s birthday, Gharana Mogudu on Chiranjeevi’s birthday, and Jalsa and Thammudu on Pawan Kalyan’s birthday.
Now, special shows of Prabhas’s Billa are being held on his birthday (October 23). Earlier, it was also reported that Varsham’s special shows would be screened on the same day. But the makers decided to release it five days after Prabhas’s birthday.
Varsham will now be re-released in Telugu states on October 28. Meanwhile, Prabhas fans are not happy with this move.
They are asking what’s the point of re-releasing the movie if it doesn’t hit the screens on the actor’s birthday? The whole point is to celebrate Prabhas’s birthday by watching his hit films once again in theatres.
They are requesting the makers to cancel the re-release and screen it on Prabhas’s next birthday. A frustrated fan also requested the makers to re-release Varsham during Sankranthi instead of Adipurush.
However, here is the real reason behind the postponement. Although the films that are re-releasing enjoy a good craze, but it is practically not possible to give theatres to the old films, by decreasing the count to new releases. The distributors and producers will have to face a tough time in adjusting theatres. Also, for this Diwali, four movies are releasing in theatres and all the four films need a good release.
At the same time, while syncing and remastering the old version of Varsham, the makers reportedly faced some issues for which they need some time to sort out. So, considering all the aspects, it has been decided to release the film on 28th October in a good number of theatres.
