Reacting to a letter sent by the Buyers Association and some Exhibitors as well demanding a return of money immediately regarding “Liger” losses, dashing director Puri Jagan has reacted rather strongly and sent his feelings through a WhatsApp voice message, which was now leaked to the public by some perpetrators.
While the intention of leaking this audio seems to defame the director, it is now adding more respect to him as netizens say that Puri’s words are like “Fire fires the fire” on the buyers.
“Are you blackmailing me? I need not give back money to anyone, but still, I’m returning it to ethical concerns. Even after I’ve promised to give back a certain amount in a month if they do these kinds of overaction, I’ll not be liking to return the money promised”, said Puri Jagan.
“I’m just paying the money for the sake of prestige, but otherwise I’m not liable to pay back a single penny” articulated Puri Jagan in his voice message.
He further explained how the buyers are actually behaving here: “When a film turns out to be a blockbuster, I’ve to work hard to collect the money from these so-called buyers. From Pokiri to Ismart Shankar, there is a lot of money I should get from buyers, will the Buyers Association collect it back for me? Every buyer and exhibitor is a rich guy here and my film is bought by top distributors and producers who wouldn’t come to roads if at all a flop hits them hard” he says, asking them to stop all this blackmail drama.
“I’m getting frustrated to deal with all these dishonest buyers who cheat with box office figures. Liger’s North India buyer Anil Thadani always presents us with real figures collected from the box office which are actually more than what we expect and that’s why we feel like sitting with him to talk. But if we look at our buyers, we feel disgusted “, he added.
On a concluding note, Puri Jagan said, “If at all they do Dharna, I’ll take the list of buyers who sat in the Dharna, and will pay everyone excluding them”.
Looks like the buyers are resorting to several blackmail techniques to extract money from Puri Jagan, and the director will not be bound legally to pay a penny back, but keeping his fame and name in mind, he is returning some money to “Liger” buyers and exhibitors.
