Megastar Chiranjeevi’s 154th film “Waltair Veerayya” and Nandamuri Balakrishna’s “Veera Simha Reddy”, which happens to be his 107th film, have recently created ripples with their title-reveal posters. And the big news is that they are going to clash ahead at the box office on the eve of Sankranthi 2023, though they are being produced by the same production house, Mythri Movie Makers.
It is now coming out that recently a group of distributors have met Mythri Movie Makers to explain to them the cons of this Chiru-Balayya clash. Though procuring theatres for both the films in the storm of Adipurush is a tough thing, definitely mass theatres will be opting for Chiru and Balayya’s movie as Adipurush happens to be a mythological fare where the massy elements won’t be present. However, the distributors are said to have conveyed to the producers that they should not expect hefty collections on Day 1, as both films will be eating into each other.
Some distributors have however issued an ultimatum to the producer to not come up with both releases on the same day, as that will not fetch them in any way after buying the movie at hefty costs. Though both Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy will enjoy similar attention from the masses, the number of profits will go down for buyers, exhibitors and distributors if the films clash.
But then, Mythri Movies is said to have given word to both Chiranjeevi and Balayya about the release date and they can’t pull back one of the projects from the Sankranthi season. There will be a gap, at least a day, but there will be no postponing of one of them.
