Though the collections of the Kannada version of “Kantara” are not on par with that of the recent blockbuster KGF2, due to the varied ticket pricing, the film has already sold more tickets than the Prashanth Neel directorial. And also the film is running solidly at the Telugu as well as Bollywood box office with worldwide collections from all the languages and territories exceeding ₹200 crores gross already.
Amidst this unstoppable performance of the film at the box office, some reports have come out that “Kantara” is hitting the OTT space on November 4th. Talking about the same, the producers clarified that there is no confirmed release of Kantara on OTT, and they will be announcing it officially once they lock in the date. However, one wonders why there is lots of smoke if there is no fire.
An insider shared that actually the makers of “Kantara” made a perfect deal with a big OTT platform to release the film just 30 days after the original Kannada version’s release. In all likelihood, the film was supposed to hit OTT on Nov 4th, but then, the makers are said to have called off the deal owing to the unprecedented success the film has seen at the box office. And now, they are said to be re-negotiating the deal.
