RRR Roars In Japan

SS Rajamouli’s much-loved RRR was recently released in Japan on 209 screens, and the reception has been overwhelming. The movie grossed $145 million worldwide, including $14.5 million in North America. Now, the film is having a dream run in Japan as well. The film got the biggest release in Japan which did not happen for an Indian film so far.

The film created a sensation in its first week by collecting JPY73M ($495,000), and it became the highest first-week opening of an Indian film.

The massive periodic actioner has also ranked No.10 at the box office opening. It looks like RRR may break even and enter into profits in the ten days of release. With the immense love and craze for SS Rajamouli films in Japan, ‘RRR’ might be the top-grosser list within a few days.

Superstar Rajinikanth’s Muthu stands at the top even after so many years and remains the number 1 Indian grosser in Japan with 20+ crore collections (JPY 400 million). “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion,” grossed JPY300 million, followed by Aamir Khan’s “3 Idiots” with JPY170 million.

Sridevi’s “English Vinglish” (JPY130 million), Akshay Kumar’s “PadMan” (JPY90 million), Aamir Khan’s “Dangal” (JPY80 million), and Rajamouli’s “Baahubali: The Beginning” (JPY75 million.) are the other films that have a sensational run at the Japanese box office.

SS Rajamouli’s action drama, Ram Charan, and NTR starrer RRR created a sensation when it was released at the domestic and international box office. The film was released with an enormous craze, and it has earned around 1200 crore globally.
