For the starters, there are only two happening movies, Allu Sirish’s “Orvasivo Rakshasivo” and Santosh Shaban’s “Like Share Subscribe” hitting cinemas this week on Nov 4th & 5th, but there there are nearly 10 films that are going to test luck this Friday at the Telugu box office. And there is a re-release of legendary Akkineni Nageswara Rao’s old film among them.
The surprise is that ANR’s age-old movie, “Prathibimbalu” which was made 40 years featuring Jayasudha as a heroine, but hasn’t been released to date, is now hitting the cinemas on Nov 5th. Though it was supposed to hit cinemas on Sep 20th on the eve of ANR’s birthday, some issues postponed it to this current date now. Directed by K Raghavendra Rao’s father Prakash Rao and Singeetham together, we have to see if Nagarjuna Akkineni will promote this film.
Apparently Allu Sirish and Santosh Sobhan are getting all the attention, of course, their films are backed by big banners and sparkling heroines as well. Sirish and Anu Emmanuel’s lip-kissing scenes, as well as Faria Abdullah’s glamorous treat in Like Share Subscribe, have already garnered buzz. So these two films would be naturally taking the front seat this Friday. Then comes some delayed films like Naveen Chandra’s “Taggedhele” and Nandu-Rashmi Gowtham’s “Bomma Blockbuster” that are hitting the cinemas. These two films are also being promoted well.
At the same time, the Tamil dubbed movie, Ashok Selvan’s travelogue love story “Aakasam” and Hindi dubbed film “Benaras” are also getting good multiplex screens right now owing to the quality of the visuals they have. But then, they are not so well promoted for the now in Telugu states though there might get some considerable openings.
Including ANR’s unreleased movie, this week is going to be an ambush at the box office, while at the end of the day, it’s content that matters. Both reviews and word of mouth are critical for these movies to click.
