On the occasion of the 67th Karnataka Rajyotsava, the Karnataka government organized a big event in Bengaluru to honor the late Puneeth Rajkumar. The government of Karnataka posthumously conferred Karnataka Ratna, the highest civilian honor given by the state of Karnataka, to the popular actor. Multiple politicians, including Karnataka CM, along with film celebrities like Superstar Rajinikanth and Young Tiger Jr NTR attended the event.

Despite heavy rain, the celebrities stayed up and shared their memories with Puneeth Rajkumar, who is fondly called Appu by fans. Rajinikanth began his speech by extending his best wishes to Kannadigas on the occasion of Karnataka Rajyotsav, and then he compared Puneeth Rajkumar to several exemplary mythological characters, calling him a “God’s child”

“According to me, Puneeth Rajkumar is like Markandeya, Prahlada, and Nachiketa. He’s God’s child. He came, lived among us, played with us, made us laugh, and then he went back to God. However, his soul is with us,” said Rajinikanth.

Jr NTR who shares a great rapport with Puneeth Rajkumar also delivered an emotional speech. “If there is anyone who conquered all our hearts with just love, he is Puneeth Rajkumar. He’s the people’s superstar of Karnataka. He is a great son, a great husband, a great father, a great friend, a dancer, and a singer. And above all these, he was a great human being,” said Jr NTR.

“Puneeth’s family always treated me as their family member. I am forever indebted for them. Thank you Karnataka government for making me a part of the event,” said NTR.
