Samantha had been appearing in female-centric films of late and here is the actress yet again with Yashodha. The movie was released today in theaters and here is the first report from the US Premiere shows.
Yashodha takes off slowly and the thrill element does not kick off until the latter half of the first half. Some flat narration during the establishment keeps the first half just alright. The pre-interval episodes and the interval sets the expectations well for a better second half. The interval block is also good. The plot doesn’t get unraveled yet, though the parallel story away from Samantha also is intriguing.
The second half is faster and more gripping with some interesting twists and also predictable twists. The concept is fresh and Samantha performed effortlessly well as the lead character in Yashodha. Varalakshmi Sarathkumar and Unni Mukundan appear in negative roles. Varalakshmi did well as a cold-blooded baddie.
The thrill factor worked mostly while the emotional episodes are stereotyped. The climax is obvious with some routine action blocks. Overall, Yashodha is a decent thriller with a few cliched scenes.
