Apparently, Film Chamber (Producers Council) has released a press note, taking the issue into public, requesting everyone to not prioritise releasing dubbed films during films like Sankranthi and Dasara. They have quoted Dil Raju’s words from 2019 that one should not be focusing on Dubbed movies during big festivals as local Telugu releases should get more theatres.
For the unknown, this press note is issued because Dil Raju himself is looking forward to releasing Telugu versions of two Tamil biggies, Vijay’s Varisu and Ajith’s Thunivu, on the eve of Sankranthi 2023. Though the producers’ council indirectly and gently reminded Dil Raju that he should stick by his own words and avoid releasing two dubbed movies clashing with Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy, it is more like an open war between the whole council and Dil Raju. What could happen now?
It is impossible for Dil Raju to give-up Varisu (Varasudu in Telugu) release because that film’s Tamil version already locked Pongal as the date and Vijay’s biggie in Tamilnadu will be so much bigger at the box-office during this festival time. So he has to either delay the Telugu version release date or he should give it fewer theatres. And Dil Raju must drop the idea of releasing Ajith’s Thunivu here, as that will make all of his theatres (50% of Nizam theatres and Vizag theatres) filled with these two dubbed movies only, leaving no space for Telugu projects.
Maybe biggies like Chiranjeevi and Allu Arvind should step into the matter now to resolve the crisis, offering something else to Dil Raju. While Mythri Movie Makers is trying to release both their films on their own in Nizam, maybe they should offer one of the movies to Dil Raju for distribution such that the theatres issue will be solved.
Else, if the issues remain resolved, then two original Telugu films and two dubbed movies will release as usual, with each of the ones trying for better space and screens, and the film that gets the best reviews will grab more theatres from the second day
