Of course, garnering 300+ million views became a regular task for many Telugu and Tamil songs in recent times, but the real success of a song is when it stays on the Global Top Music charts where the visual presentation is not at all criteria. And now, the “Ranjithame” song from Vijay’s Varisu, which was composed by SS Thaman is topping such global charts.
While it clocked 50+ million views on YouTube, the song surprised everyone as it topped the global top charts of the popular music streaming app, Spotify. For the second week of November, Ranjithame’s song stood at the No.5 spot on Spotify’s charts. That is now making many wonders if the song went all the way to the top because of its musical brilliance.
The “Ranjithame” song scored by Thaman hasn’t sounded anything close to new in terms of music as it sounded like an extension of ‘Biryani’ song from Krackk movie. At the same time, the visuals, especially the choreography by Jaani Master sounds like a rehash of their own stupendous hit song Arabic Kuthu. But then, the fan power of Vijay is so strong that they have kept listening to the song umpteen times on these apps, and that led to the song going all the way to the top, say, experts.
Anyway, for people who are not aware of Thaman’s previous works, surely this song sounds new and foot tapping, and that might be another reason for it to click big time.
