In what can be a relief, Kozhikode district court in Kerala has reportedly dismissed the plea filed by Thaikkudam Bridge over Varaha Raoopam song from Kantara. The district court has reportedly struck down its previous orders that barred the makers from streaming the song. With this, the court lifted the ban on the iconic song from the devotional blockbuster. A detailed court order is yet to come out. Meanwhile, Kerala – Palakkad district plea is still in progress and the verdict is yet to come out.
Earlier, the Kerala-based band Thaikkudam Bridge had claimed that the Varaha Roopam song is plagiarized from their song Navarasam. Alleging that Varaha Roopam was an infringement of their song copyright, the band had moved the court against the Kantara makers and filed a plea seeking restraining order on playing the iconic song in the movie (both theatrical and OTT, TVs).
It can be noted that Amazon Prime Video, which is streaming Kantara on its platform, had earlier removed Varaha Roopam song. The Varaha Roopam song has been replaced by another track. Several fans were left disappointed with this move.
