Opinion: Yashodha Missing That Hype On OTT

Within no time, for the kind of choices she made, spicy siren Samantha Ruth Prabhu not only emerged as a Superstar but proved her potential at the box office.

Without any glamour treat, masala scenes and adulterated comedy, the Chennai hottie proved it big with “Yashodha” as the film opened to big numbers. But then, the weekdays haven’t done the needful. 

With a target to collect ₹22 crores ’share’ from the box office as the film’s worldwide theatricals cost that much, Samantha’s Yashodha managed to collect nearly ₹14-16 crores share in its final run. That said, the film was supposed to make it big on its OTT debut but it is getting no such hype now.

Though Amazon Prime Video has showcased that the film is at the No.1 spot on its Top 10 right now, the film lacks that buzz on social media. Even Samantha has just put a single story on her Instagram but not speaking much about it. 

Frankly speaking, the film would have collected immensely if Samantha has promoted the film big time rather than just giving one single interview.

Of course, we have to consider her health condition, but then, there is no big promotion for the movie on its OTT debut too. Because they say, Yashodha has the potential to make more at the box office and OTT space as well, but it is not living up to it.
