Ravi Teja and Trinadha Rao Nakkina’s commercial potboiler Dhamaka got a good start at the Box Office. Aggressive promotions and visually rich songs, Sreeleela’s glam factor seems to have worked for the film. Yet the film bagged mixed reviews and written off as not a Dhamaka. As per the latest reports, the film collected around 9 Crs Gross on Day 1 from Telugu states. We have to see how this film would sustain against the mixed talk. The makers are pining high hopes on the ongoing Christmas festival season to help this commercial flick.
Meanwhile, Nikhil and Anupama Parameswaran’s 18 Pages opening was not on par with Dhamaka. However, the long-delayed 18 Pages released with low expectations. Yet, it is a decent opening for the film that was delayed. The word of the mouth is good for this emotional love story penned by Sukumar. The WOM is expected to reflect in the weekend numbers. Geetha Arts is strongly vouching for this film. Allu Arjun attended as the chief guest for the film’s pre-release event and post-release promotions are expected to do the trick for 18 Pages. The upcoming Christmas holiday season is likely to work for the film.
Vishal’s Laththi ended as a huge disaster. Though it was released on Thursday, the film lacked novel content. It was a dated cop story that failed to impress the crowds. The film released without any noise and bit the dust. His previous films were also disappointments.
Overall, this Christmas is interesting with releases like Dhamaka and 18 Pages. We have to wait and see, how the duo fare at the ticket windows.
