Despite the fact that “Avatar: The Way Of Water” was released with high expectations, the film has suffered from the ‘average’ talk as director James Cameron failed to give some terrific twists in the film. But then, all these reviews are not stopping movie lovers and the film is posting double-digit collections even after entering its second week.
This Saturday (Dec 24), the film is on its Day 9, and the Indian box office collection is estimated to be nearly ₹21 crores nett. Though Bollywood thought that the release of Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus will affect this movie, the flop show of the Ranveer Singh starrer further benefitted Avatar 2 only.
To date, the film managed to post nearly ₹227 crores in the collection, thus stunning the trade circles. With almost 40% occupancy for the morning show and matinee, and 70% occupancy for the evening shows, the film is likely to touch ₹400 crore club in India as per trade experts.
If we look at the worldwide box office, Avatar 2 has grossed nearly $607 million across the globe, and it might be able to beat Top Gun: Maverick collection of $715 million easily. However, the original and first Avatar’ has posted a global collection of $2.5 billion and it looks like that record is nowhere on the reach for Part 2 of the franchisee.
