After the super flop of movies like Jersey, HIT, Bachhan Panday, Cuttputli and Nikamma, which are remakes of Telugu and Tamil movies, Bollywood folks that the era of remaking south movies has come to an end.
However, Drishyam 2 proved all of them wrong as this remake of a Malayalam film has crossed ₹200+ crores nett collections without many efforts.
Though Drishyam 2 has done terrific business at the box office, trade pundits expected that the arrival of Avatar 2 as well as Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus will put an end to the golden run of this Ajay Devgan starrer.
Much to anyone’s surprise, with Cirkus failing to click and Avatar 2 getting average reviews, it looks like Drishyam 2 is still having its run continue unstoppable.
While Avatar 2 is registering double-digit figures, Cirkus made ₹6+ crores nett collection each day in its first weekend. Even with this competition around, Drishyam 2 is registering nearly ₹1+ crores nett on weekends.
The collections of this remake have touched ₹225+ crores nett already, and still, the movie might do good business until Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan arrives towards the end of January 2023.
