In Telugu, two big superstars are clashing at the Box Office. Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy and Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya are slugging it out at the ticket windows this Sankranthi festive season.
Whereas in Tamil, Ajith’s Thunivu (Thegimpu in Telugu) and Vijay’s Varisu (Vaarasudu in Telugu) are clashing. However, there is a stark difference between Telugu stars and Tamil stars.
While Chiru and Balayya avoided direct clash at theatres. Both films are not releasing on the same day. They’re being released within a day gap. Unlike Telugu, Tamil stars are clashing on the same day which eats into the openings of one another. This is not a healthy sign. But no one could avoid this clash. Both Ajith and Vijay fans are very concerned about dates, openings and BO numbers.
In Telugu also there is a huge competition between the stars and their fans. However, in Tamil it’s more than competition. Ajith Vs Vijay is always a famous battle at cinemas. If we draw parallels this to cricket. The analogy goes like this. It’s like an India Vs Pakistan match. Of course, no one is less here. But this is to understand the intensity of the fight between the stars and their fans.
Some also point out the ego clash of stars and fan wars for releasing on the same day. But this Pongal is going to be a very tight one. One must appreciate Chiru and Balayya for maintaining the gap and giving space for each other’s films. While Balayya’s Veera Simha Reddy is coming on 12th Jan, Chiru’s Waltair Veerayya is arriving on 13th Jan. Thus, it forced Vijay and Ajith to opt for the date 11th Jan.
One of them – either Ajith or Vijay – could opt for 10th Jan release as well. But both the stars have decided to release their films on 11th Jan. Meanwhile, Veera Simha Reddy and Waltair Veerayya are not getting dubbed into Tamil. They will have a straight Telugu release in Tamil Nadu.
